AI Genius Loci is a game from Ukraine which enables players to discern their spirit of place and their own place in the future. The game is played with both human and artificial intelligence.
'Genius Loci' comes from the Latin phrase meaning ‘guardian spirit of a place’ or ‘special atmosphere of a place’. In each of three rounds, called respectively ‘wisdom of the group’, 'big data’, and ‘vision of the future’, players answer questions on intangible heritage, tangible heritage, and natural heritage. Artificial intelligence (AI) plays the role of a fully-fledged participant.
AI Genius Loci was researched and developed in 2024 by Lanka, a company based in Lviv focussing on the creative economy and ecosystemic solutions inspired by culture.
